The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Do you want to be a full member of the Catholic Church?

RCIA is a process designed for adults to learn about the teachings of Jesus in the tradition of the Catholic Church and then implementing these teachings into daily life as a full member of the Catholic community.

RCIA welcomes three particular groups of adults:

  1. Those who have never been baptized in any faith
  2. Those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition
  3. Those who have been baptized in the Catholic Church but have not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist

There are five phases to RCIA:

Phase One: The Period of Inquiry known as the Pre-Catechumenate

Phase Two: Catechumenate

Phase Three: Period of Purification and Enlightenment/Scrutinies

Phase Four: Celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil

Phase Five: Mystagogical Catechesis

To discuss this process, receive more information or to enroll, please contact our RCIA Director, Barb Antoskiewicz at the Parish Office at 708-895-6700.
